We have riders of differing capabilities (some who can sustain riding on the flat at over 40kmh, where others might struggle at 25kmh. We have riders in their teens, and riders who could describe themselves as ‘retirement age’. We come in different shapes and sizes for sure, but we all have in common, a love for bike riding.
So where do we come from? The short answer is: all over (we have had riders from 60 different countries join in our races!). On any race day you will see new faces, visiting individuals or clubs from other regions, or even other gulf countries, to take part in our races. Naturally, Saudi faces are the largest proportion but a look back across who has raced with us in the last few years gives us this graphic.
Something we hear a lot is people telling us that they are not ready to race: they are not fit enough, they don’t feel fast enough, they are worried that their bike is not good enough, they’ve never raced before and are worried!
Even people who finish on podiums worry that they are not fit enough. Everyone feels like this. The truth is, it takes a long time to be strong enough to win races and many people don’t find pleasure in participating. The riders finishing last get the same amount of applause and encouragement as those who finish first and no-one cares what you are riding (as long as it isn’t an eBike!). Join in, make friends, find someone to train with, get help and advice.
We are diverse and open to all. We make lots of effort to be welcoming and helpful.
